I've been a regular attendee at Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo for three years now. I had a blast the first time, and the second year I went was even better. But my experience there this year felt only OK in comparison to my previous trips to the conventions. I still had a good time, got some pretty good cosplay photos, and got to meet plenty of the celebrities guests.
But the cosplay I came in this year was kind of disappointing, in my opinion. On Saturday, I went as a human version of Plankton from SpongeBob SquarePants, and it didn't turn out the way I intended. It felt incomplete (as in I didn't have any antennas for the wig) and kind of unrecognizable, judging by the clothing selections I made and what I think was intended to be a more anime-esque version of the character. Although some guests really liked the cosplay, I kept having to explain to them what character I was. Even the glass bottle I had with me, carrying the Krabby Patty formula, wasn't enough of a hint for the other guests. When I upload one of my celebrity photos, you guys will probably know what I mean.
So now with this convention out of way, time to start on my new pony cosplays for Pacific PonyCon!
